my orchid

three years ago i inherited a beautiful orchid... someone was leaving the office and gave it to me.

it died a few months later.

orchid's are temperamental. high maintenance, if you will.
i knew it didn't stand a chance of survival under my care.

in passing, i mentioned the plight of my sweet orchid to a co-worker. he offered to take it home and put it near his wife's orchid, on the porch. i said, "sure, why not."

it's been almost two years. he sent me an email yesterday with "your orchid" written in the subject line and this pic attached...


isn't she a beauty? :) i was delighted to know she is well and thriving under her adopted care. maybe one day i'll take her back... but for now, i enjoy knowing she has a good home.
