why cookies are great

i mean, not only are they delicious when made properly, but cookies are great because baking them makes me feel ultra productive.

take this morning, for example.

i woke up late, stumbled into the living room, clicked on a lamp, launched pandora, turned the speakers on, set the oven to 375, threw two pots on the stove and yanked opened the refrigerator to grab eggs and the small bowl of cookie dough i hadn't finished baking last night. i set the coffee maker into delicious-making-mode and swept the organic honey off the top shelf.

while i made eggs over easy, cheesy grits and a grocery list, my cookies were happily baking.

while i washed the dishes, sipped coffee and danced in the kitchen with my husband to nat king cole, cookie fragranced the house.

almost finished my morning routine, i clicked the oven off, pulled out the final batch of chocolate chip treats and finished drying water spots off the coffee pot, replacing it on it's now-cold pot warmer.

and what to my wondering eyes should appear? cookies sitting pretty on a christmas tray.

love me some cookies.
